Windows Technical Support

Important Note

This tech support topic applies to the old Cliptures floppy disks and versions of Windows prior to Windows XP. We have not sold the floppy disk versions of any Cliptures volumes in well over 5 years and no longer support them. We do have some customers still running older versions of Windows 3 and Windows 95. The information below may work if you have an older computer system and an old version of PrintShop. We continue to keep this information in our tech support archives in case it is of benefit to anyone but we no longer even have systems old enough to do any further testing or tech support for these older systems and software.

Question:

How do I use one of the Cliptures Fun Borders volumes with the Print Shop Deluxe, Ensemble, or Ensemble III?

Answer:

You can access the Fun Borders portrait backdrop libraries anytime you would normally access a PORTRAIT BACKDROP library within the Print Shop Deluxe or Ensemble programs. Portrait backdrop libraries can be used for these common projects: Signs (tall), Letterheads (single page), Greeting Cards (side fold or side fold spread), and Calendars (tall).

Note: The following goes through step by step how to put a backdrop graphic into a Print Shop "Sign" project. The same basic steps are used for the other projects mentioned above.

Note: Backdrop libraries do not work with Print Shop Premiere 5. If you are using Premiere 5, you need to use the square graphics version of the Fun Borders included in our current versions of the Fun Borders volumes.

Here's how to do it:

1. Start Print Shop Deluxe or Ensemble.

2. Select "Sign" as the project.

3. Select "Start from Scratch". (Print Shop Deluxe Ensemble II or Ensemble III only.)

4. Select "Tall". (All of the Cliptures borders in volumes 6, 14, and 31 are vertically oriented.)

5. Print Shop will open a File Dialog window called either Select a "Backdrop" or "Backdrop Browser". (Depending on which version of Print Shop you are using.)

6. On the left side of this window you will see the name of the default backdrop library called either "PSDeluxe Backdrops" or "PSD Backdrops". (Depending on which version of Print Shop you are using.)

7. Directly to the right of the library name is an arrow pointing down. Click on the arrow. This will show you a drop down list of any other portrait backdrop libraries you have, including the Cliptures library.

8. Use the scroll bar on the right side of this drop down window to scroll up or down until you see the library named: Cliptures Fun Borders. (With most versions of Print Shop the libraries appear alphabetically, but in some cases the Cliptures library or libraries may appear at the bottom of the list.)

9. When you find the Cliptures library, click on its name.

10. Print Shop will now display the names for the individual graphics within the Cliptures library. When you click on any of the graphic names, you will see a preview of the graphic on the right side of the screen.

11. Select the graphic you want to use and click on the OK button.

12. You will now see a second window called "Select a Layout". The top item in this window says "No layout". Leave this selected and click on the OK button. (You can use one of Print Shop's layouts if you want to, but they were not specifically designed for the Cliptures Fun Borders.)

13. Now you will see the sign page with the Cliptures border (backdrop) displayed. You can use the "Add" command under the Object menu to add text holders or other graphics to your layout.

That's it!
